For the GBBC, I checked up on the female-type Rufous/Allen's Hummingbird that has been wintering in Miami Shores. It is staying loyal to a flowering orchid tree on the northeast corner of NE 100 Street and NE 5th Avenue.
The overwhelming amount of Rufous/Allen's Hummingbirds in the Southeast are Rufous based off of banding data. This bird is most likely a Rufous Hummingbird, but unless I can get a photo of the tail feathers and look at the R2 feather field mark, it will have to go down in the books as a Rufous/Allen's. This bird is vocal but not very photogenic.
