Diana Doyle and I birded the C111E Canal this morning (accessed along the 9336 Highway, 2.2 miles west of Benito Juarez Park). The chilly temperatures kept the birding a little slow at first, but it did not put a damper on our overall list.

There were a total of four Brown-crested Flycatcher along the canal (all actively calling, although only two were seen and photographed). The first was right at the entrance to the trail on the west side of the canal. The second was about a 1/2 mile further down on the east side of the canal.

The final two flycatchers were about a mile down from the start of the trail on the west side of the canal. A small flock of American Robin were in the same area, and a surprise Crested Caracara gave us a flyby.

We had a total of 47 species at this site.
