Documented sightings of ivorybills tell a story that ended in the US in 1944 with the extinction of the bird at that point. The cuban birds were thought to have hung on a little longer with john dennis' 1948 photos considered the last. some new ones taken in cuba by george lamb in 1956 have surfaced, extending that timeline a little more.
