Got together with a couple NC buddies (Jeff Pippen and Mark Kosiewksi) and made the trek down to Long Key State Park for the Key West Quail-Dove. We arrived at 8:15am and after half an hour we heard come rustling and I was able to catch a glimpse of the bird. After another half an hour of searching it flushed across the path not to be seen by our group again for the rest of the outing. We received a text later saying the bird had been seen right before dusk as it was going to roost. Larry Manfredi might be able to provide some details about the second sighting. We spent the rest of the day searching for butterflies and did pretty well for ourselves picking up Florida Duskywing and Martial Scrub-Hairstreak but dipped on Bartram's Hairstreak.
