The Snowy Plover continues at Crandon Park on Key Biscayne. It was seen along with a number of other shorebirds in the roped-off area designated by Rangel and Mike Diaz back in 2011 or so. The area is small, but you can see that incipient-like dunes are slowly beginning to form over time. The shorebirds are hunkering down in the ripples of sand that form in the very beginningS of dune formation - pretty cool. It took a few moments to find the Snowy Plover peering just over the top of one of these ripples in the middle of the protected area. I was here at high tide, and the Black-bellied Plovers and Short-billed Dowitchers were not around at the time. They may have been farther north at Virginia Key or at the far north end of Crandon Park.

As I left, Black Spiny-tailed and Green Iguanas were coming out to thermoregulate. After leaving Virginia Key and merging onto the I-95 northbound entrance ramp, a lone Blue-and-yellow Macaw flew lazily alongside my car as I tried not to get into an accident on the way back to Miami Shores where White-winged Parakeets greeted me in the driveway.
