The area was really good around 2000-2002 as the recharge area was being built. David La Puma called it "Manfredi Marsh" or "Mandingo Marsh". As any recently scraped area, it provided open, wet areas which are bird magnets, much as Cutler Wetlands was at one point. That area lost some of its birding attraction when it became overgrown and the bird diversity and number of rarities decreased. While it may be good for some sparrows now, just as Larry about all the cool species that were seen there intitially. I never birding it personally, but would read all the cool reports from there.
