I don't know if there has ever been confirmation of more than one Buff-bellied Hummingbirds at Fairchild Tropical Gardens this winter, but at least one is still there. It was feeding at, and roosting in, the chinese hat plant adjacent to the arid rock garden on the northwest side of the property, directly adjacent to Old Cutler Rd. I believe this is plot 5 on the garden map, my copy was very hard to read. The chinese hat plant has a sign in front of it indicating that Buff-bellied Hummingbirds have been feeding at it this winter, so that might help. There was also one apparent immature male Ruby-throated Hummingbird in the immediate vicinity, but that was the only other hummer we saw all day there, just hearing but not seeing one other in another part of the garden.
