On Thursday, January 15 the park gates will open early for visitors at 7 a.m. The park has recently received increased attention from the birding community due to the excellent birding available on our Golden Orb Nature Trail. We have had repeated observations of the rare Key West Quail Dove over the past few months, and also a Northern Wheatear sighting this fall.
To accommodate our users, we will now have early bird admission on the third Thursday of each month, allowing visitors to enter at 7 a.m. This is to provide visitors opportunities for wildlife and bird viewing at sunrise they would not have at our normal opening time of 8 a.m. Normal park entrance fees will still apply.
If you have any questions please call the ranger station at 305-664-4815. For directions and information, go to http://www.floridastateparks.org/longkey/
