I use the term "seen" very loosely. Trey and I arrived about 15 minutes after it had been seen by Larry, Bob Wallace, and a couple of others. At around 3:00, we saw a slight movement way in the back. I only saw some movement in my binocs, but with Trey's scope, we could see it. You had to look behind two fallen, rotting logs, a couple dozen small trees, several hundred leaves, through a small gap in between two branches, and there, in horrible light, you could see the head of the dove as it picked at the leaves. The bird moved about 1/4 inch to the left just before others got there and it disappeared. These doves make seeing Black Rails easy! My advise to anyone who still wants to see this bird is to try something easier and less frustrating, like stacking greased marbles wearing boxing gloves.
