A fun group poked around Virginia Key yesterday as part of the Miami CBC and we tallied 76 species with only one big miss, Short-tailed Hawk. We had 11 warbler species with an additional 2 during count week. Carlos coaxed out a female Wilson's Warbler on Sewage Road, the first for this count in 45 years! We had 8 shorebird and 5 gull species. Our better birds were: Scissor-tailed Flycatcher (continuing young bird at the north end), 5 Black Scoters swimming off of Hobie Beach, 4 American Avocets and the Great Black Hawk that made its appearance at 0925 and 0940.

Many thanks to Bill, Carlos, Jim, Kirsten, Elizabeth and Nico.
