Common Loon in Snake Creek Canal - NMB

While scouting for the Miami CBC on Saturday December 20, I briefly stopped at the bridge that crosses Snake Creek at N.E. 165th Street & 19th Ave, and found a Common Loon paddling west on the canal. The bird appeared to be healthy and did several dives in search of food. I was surprise to see this bird a little out of its normal winter habitat. The ocean is about 5-miles east of this location.
