I thought it worth a mention that the Bunche Beach Long-billed Curlew, last reported November 30, is still around. It was one of the targets on my recent Florida trip. I have a number of bad pictures from western states and it was something I really wanted to get good pictures of. I decided to take a chance on the long drive from Sunrise to Fort Myers on Monday (December 15) despite no new reports. It was a trip that paid off.
I should mention that I did not see it when I arrived about an hour after high tide. It was three hours later, on the dropping tide, that I found it -- east of the parking lot, as previously reported.
Also seen -- I mention it for other visiting birders that use this board: a Snowy Plover, at least 17 Marbled Godwits, 9 Sandwich Terns, Forster's Tern (that was a target for a birder from Toronto). Also a couple of banded Piping Plovers, for which I'll have to send information.
