I saw and heard a Brown-crested Flycatcher today while surveying the Old Ingraham Highway for the Long Pine Key CBC. It was calling and feeding in the tall trees at the bend in the trail just before the hammock transitions into lower, scrubbier vegetation (mostly Brazilian Pepper).
The trail was rather quiet overall, but I did record several interesting species:
Short-tailed Hawk (2)
White-crowned Pigeon
Eastern Phoebe (2)
Great Crested Flycatcher (4)
Brown-crested Flycatcher
White-eyed Vireo (12)
Blue-headed Vireo
Yellow-throated Vireo
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Ovenbird
Worm-eating Warbler
Northern Waterthrush (2)
Black-and-white Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
American Redstart (4)
Northern Parula (7)
Magnolia Warbler (2)
Yellow-rumped Warbler (9)
Prairie Warbler (6)
Black-throated Green Warbler (2)
The perfect weather made for a beautiful day to be out in the Everglades.
Carlos
