Went birding through the restricted access natural area of the estate and was able to pick up 3 Western Kingbirds in a Gumbo Limbo above Cutler Creek. If I'm not mistaken it is a first for the park. Also, there has been a probable Western Tanager haunting me around the property. I first came across the bird early this week while working a field trip but didn't have binoculars to confirm my hunch. Over the course of the week the bird would flush in front of me but would only give fleeting views. On Wednesday I did hear the typical PITERICK call but again was unable to get eyes on the bird to 100% confirm the identification. I haven't had any luck today but will keep everyone posted.
