Saw a Red-breasted Merganser yesterday (DEC 7) in the West Broward WCA, in west Miramar. Flew over to another similar one but both took off and could not confirm the second.
As a side note, Marsh Rabbits have become much less common here the past 2-3 years. I get out into these wetlands almost every morning when in Florida (all of Oct thru April and at intervals of 2-3 weeks all summer). I used to see 1 or 2 every few weeks but actually have seen none at all here for over a year. Bobcats are also harder to find. Never have seen or heard reports of pythons, which are blamed for their decrease in the Everglades.
