I stopped by Long Key State Park today to try again for the famous dove. I ran into an expert local birder who explained that it had been re-located just last night, at around 5 pm. Several other local birders, also aware of this, showed up to search, but no one saw it today, up until 3pm., when I left. The location is the same as mentioned in prior reports : after paying at the entrance, take the first left to the parking lot and from there, walk the dirt trail to the northeast marked "nature trail". It's been along the first 1/4 to 1/2 mile of the trail, on the right side, in the hardwood hammock. Apparently, it walks quietly in the leaf litter 20 to 30 feet in from the trail.
