I rode my bike out early on Wednesday morning to check on the kingbirds and flycatchers on the L-31W canal north of State Road 9336. This is the canal just east of the entrance to Everglades National Park. I rode to the first water control structure which is about a mile and a half out. At this location on the east side of the road, are some utility wires that had two Tropical Kingbirds, two Western Kingbirds, one Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Great Crested Flycatcher, Eastern Phoebe and a Blue Grosbeak. I then road the other mile or so out to the last water control structure. I had the Vermilion Flycatcher on the wires just after the road turns to the north before the water control structure. I did not see any Tropical Kingbirds at this location. I then returned to the first water control structure and had the same vocal Tropical Kingbird without any other kingbirds around. I put a link to a so, so video I took in the early morning light of one of the Tropical Kingbirds calling. I did not see the other kingbirds again in this area. I believe the large Strangler Fig tree at this location, may be the roost tree for these kingbirds and flycatchers. I had a total of three different Blue Grosbeaks on this nice bike ride as well as a couple of snakes.

I have added a link or you can copy and past this one:
