This picture was posted previously but Jeff Toll made the inquiry as to location. Unfortunately the page progresse so fast on this board that I didn't pick up on his later inquiry as to location. So, better late then never.

Jeff, The Great horned owl is on the entrance road at Loxahatchee NWR off of 441 north of Boynton. After you pay your entrance fee you will see the large crowd viewing the bird. Just follow the viewers and photographers. Park in the designated parking sites. The bird can be viewed from front (morning) and the back (at sunset) quite well. She seems fairly habituated and she well ought to be considering the growing crowds.

Now to the point: We can all share this wonderful experience of seeing the GHOwl and her single baby quietly and safely for all concerned. The road is narrow and regs do not permit people to park on the road. If we remind ourselves and other viewers of this safety value as well as courtesy this could be a nice experience. If we (and regrettably so far it has been photographers) keep crowding the site and parking on the shoulder the keepers will limit or shut down the view area. I have many friends on and off this board that know I am not speaking of them....but we must speak out to some of the more churlish members of our fraternity that insist, at any expense getting the perfect picture and acting rather rudely in the process. And all you TAS memebrs that are not photographers don't be coy. Remind the more insensitive members of society to be courteous, quiet, and respectful at this site.

And in closng, whoever you are on the motorcycle that passed the site last week, I smiled in appreciation and wonderment as you killed your engine and glided by sans noise on your passing. Trust me, all heads turned at your respect for the situation. You sir, made a statement, and I for one doff my Tilley to you.
