I was speaking with Toe earlier today and mentioned this same thing to him. The last few years seem to have had more and more overwintering migrant species like Blue-winged Warbler than before. Nearing the end of 2013 instead of looking for year birds that overshot their wintering grounds, I spent time looking for birds I needed that stuck around, like Philadelphia Vireo - which I ended up missing all together anyway.
