I just got back from Nicaragua and had a great time seeing some of the native birds as well as our cool migrants (Wood Thrush and Golden-winged Warbler, considered great birds for the Managua area).
Went to Indian Hammocks for about 45 minutes this morning. Highlights were Red-eyed Vireos, Cape May Warbler, several Black-throated Blue Warblers, Palm Warbler, Scarlet Tanager and FOS Rose-breasted Grosbeak (fermale). A light Short-tailed Hawk was quietly perched on a strangler fig with several warblers and a N. Mockingbird feeding near it. I was surprised the birds didn't react to it or may not have been aware it was there.
