: : What are you using in your feeders? I've had them come to my feeder on occasion, but they don't stick around too long. I would love to get them to come back. Thanks.

: I do not have any humming bird feeders in my back yard, (yet) but I often see ruby-throated hummingbirds working the blossoms of the firebush, pentas, milkweed, yellow cassias and blue porterweed that I have planted, not to mention the dozen plus species of butterflies that visit.
: I just read your message, I use 1 part sugar to 4 parts water ( never use honey), and boil for 5 minutes , then cool.
Don't use that "red junk- nectar" that they sell with the feeders at Home Depot. This is much cheaper and healthier for the hummers.
Put up several feeders in the same tree, I think they see them easier, and make sure they are hanging in a conspicous spot.
One of the problems we have here is " urbanization" which destroys alot of the trees , and thanks to 'wilma" and "katrina as well. These little guys like trees!
Good luck, I jumped for joy when I saw my first hummer at my feeders last November!
