We've had 15-16 buntings come back to our feeders the past 7-8 years.
I highly suggest getting multiple feeders (globe style), as buntings are gregarious, and the more feeders, more buntings. White proso millet is their favorite food... And use baffles to keep out rodents. They also need a tree/shrub nearby to hide from more aggressive birds (jays, etc).
Also, buntings love our birdbath, which is NOT near the feeders. We use a dripper, as birds are more attracted to moving water.
Plant tropical sage, a native. The birds will eat the seeds. And you might get hummingbirds, which love the flowers.
Remember, many birds return to the same food source every year. So if you make them happy, you'll have them back. Ours are uncanny....the first sighting is always within a day or two of the prior year.
