If this is true, then what we have is a species that attempted to colonize South Florida, and that attempt failed for various reasons. This is not to say that they may attempt again, but with all those conditions going against them it's likely they will never succeed.
On the other hand, the Scaly-breasted Munia are having tremendous success colonizing my yard. I think they are building an exclusive resort next to my pool, and they plan to keep me out!
