This past Saturday, there were two very large groups of birds circling over Green Cay - roseated spoonbills - numbers probably between 25-35...and wood storks, probably in the 15-20 region. Then Monday I saw what looked like great blue herons in a flying group of maybe 10-15, followed by a second wave of them about 8-10 strong, all coasting high over the eastern edge of the everglades, headed southbound. I know: non-sequitir, as the first two groups weren't likely migrating, but I just haven't seen quite so many different large groups of flying birds around here as this past week.
