I birded Matheson this morning and met visiting Sacramento birder Kevin Gues who birded Barnes yesterday. Kevin spotted a Selasphorus hummingbird (he's pretty sure it was a Rufous) over by the entrance to the nature center. It is the area with all the firebush next to the trailer. I headed there after Barnes and heard and saw a Ruby-throated in the vicinity, but no Rufous. However, I only stayed in that area for about fifteen minutes before I decided to bird the rest of the park. Good variety in both parks.
