Twenty-six good-natured and hard-working birders were on the walk this morning through Bill Baggs Cape Florida SP. We tallied 43 species but one bird remains a Mystery Guest. (We're working on an ID.)

We did well on raptors, including Merlin, Peregrine Falcon, Short-tailed, Broad-winged, Cooper's and Sharp-shinned Hawk. We had a nice flycatcher/kingbird selection, including Great Crested Flycatcher, Gray and Eastern Kingbird, Eastern Phoebe and a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. We had nice looks at both buntings and a Rose-breasted Grosbeak that was reluctant to leave its ripe Trema berries as we walked by. We had the expected warblers, including a Cape May.

Thanks go to the sharp-eyed participants, to Cape Florida Banding Station for our personal Swainson's Thrush and to David Foster (the park manager) who allowed us to visit the non-public area. We also hope to see young Sadie on future TAS walks.
