I have seen them as singles, but never more than one at a time. Probably recent escapes.
: What is the current status of Budgerigars in South Florida i.e. Miami/Homestead area? I've encountered as many as 2-3 in the few times I've seen them in that area and yes, I know about the ones in the Hernando Beach area on the Gulf Coast north of Tampa. But I'm not concerned about them or whether or not they're ABA countable, feral, established or whatever. What I want to know is, are Budgies increasing in numbers? I seem to think so based on the reports from South Florida submitted to the GBBC for example. There are reports of 5 & 14 birds from Miami. There are even two reports of 3 & 24 Budgies from Ocala! I could be mistaken, but I don't think those latter reports are correct but the South Florida ones seem plausible. I'm sure I'll hear from the psittacid expert(s) but I'm more inclined to accept the statements of local birders from South Florida who bird their areas much more frequently and have more "intimate" knowledge of these birds. What do you think?
