Larry tells me that a long-time birder once said that out of 10 birding attempts, you'll find a good bird on just one. So if it takes 10 attempts, I'm saying, why not just skip the first 9 attempts and just go out on the 10th one? Then you'll get a good bird each time! Improve your chances, makes sense to me.
