Hello to all the birders in Broward & Miami. It's been awhile. 6 weeks, you say? Something like that.
I've put a lot of work out there and you have to see it for yourself - some great, some plain IDs. Now, a few days ago I was at the Boynton Inlet and had an amazing experience of seeing 88 Common Nighthawks in flight. With my binoculars I counted no less than 88 and it could have been more. There were obviously coasting the beach southbound and flying pretty high. I have never seen them flying so focused and straight on. No zigzag or detours to devour insects though hard to keep such large numbers in one frame and they kept coming and coming and coming...In other words, they were anxiously heading to Miami and beyond. Posted a couple of shots. Seven in one frame and 26 faint ones on the other.

Fast forwarding to today I went to Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge and what I saw matches what most have posted today with some differences. I had 9 species of warblers:
2 awesome-looking Prothonotaries
Lots of B&W Warblers
3 N.Parulas
1 Prairie Warbler
12 or so Worm-eating Warblers
Northern Waterthrush
Louisiana Waterthrush
2 Ovenbirds
1 American Redstart
Also seen were: Eastern Kingbird, Great Crested Flycatcher, Red-eyed Vireo, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Red-bellied, Downy, & Pileated Woodpeckers.
2 Snail kites were on the wires on 441 north of the entrance to refuge.

Rewinding to the past some beach actions with Royal and lots of Sandwich terns feeding their infants. One Caspian tern in full breeding colors with black cap intact.
So much more that I can't remember. Check it out for yourself.
Hope you enjoy seeing the birds as much as I did.
Best,
Marcello
Not easy being a one-man show writing down species, grabbing binoculars, and trying to photograph birds at the same time. I find myself photographing and less and being more of a birder (so much less stressful)
